HISTORY

The Martinoli Group can trace its origins back to 1946 when Federico Martinoli sr., at the time President of the Italian Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, founded the company as an independent association of Marine Surveyors and Consultants in Genoa, Italy.
Federico Martinoli sr. had previously been since mid-'thirties director of the Monfalcone shipyard and in 1938 moved to Genoa after having been appointed technical general manager of the Genoa Sestri shipyard.

His son Federico Jr. took over the Company's management in 1956 and, since 1976 Roberto and Giovanni, the last generation of the Martinoli's, have been running the office.
In 1991 and in 2001 respectively, Andrea Zito and Ferdinando Garrh joined the company as part owners.

Since the company's inception, the Martinoli Group has been operating as consultants for new building and, under the management of Federico Martinoli jr., expanded into damage surveying activity for Italian and foreign Underwriters and P&I Clubs.
In mid-'Eighties, with the leading impulse of Roberto Martinoli, the Group became active in the cruise industry and has been appointed by Costa Cruise Line as their technical managers in 1991.
In mid-'Nineties, the activity expanded into the cargo sector, leading to the full technical management of various tankers, product and chemical carriers up to 60,000 tons dwt and to the opening of the office in Montecarlo.

In 2005 the division in Montecarlo, specialized in cruise ship management, was purchased by V.Ships.

In 2003 after employment of specialized personnel the Leisure Vessel and Yachting Consultancy activities were definitely started.
Surveying and Consultancy, major Project Management and ship Technical Management activities are performed in the Genoa offices, directed by Giovanni Martinoli and Marco Calabria.
